Ron Howard, director of the upcoming, Solo: A Star Wars Story, just announced a new campaign for Star Wars’ long going Force for Change charity titled “Roar for Change”. Celebrating one of the film’s biggest stars, Chewbacca, fans are welcome to submit their impressions of his iconic Wookie roar.

For every public post, like, or share on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter that includes #RoarForChange between May 3 – 25, 2018, Star Wars: Force for Change U.S. will donate $1 to UNICEF USA, up to $1 million. This is one of Lucasfilm’s many campaigns in their partnership with UNICEF.

Those attending Disneyland’s special event, Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite on May 3rd will also be invited to roar during the event. Additionally, the Disney Store will be offering 10 percent off their Star Wars purchases when they roar and post in store locations nationwide from May 4th-6th. To help kick off the event, Chewbacca will be joining fans in San Francisco’s Disney Store, roaring and taking part in the fun.

Founded during the production of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Force for Change has been a staple of the Star Wars community and has made a large impact since its creation. Their official site states that their “goal is to harness the strength of Star Wars and its global fandom to empower people to come together to make a positive impact on the world around them. We want to inspire people to be “forces for change” in their everyday lives.”
